Charlotte's Master Community Calendar offers a handpicked guide to the best events, web links, and highlights for the Charlotte, North Carolina region. It is the only calendar in the Charlotte area
that enables users to see at a quick glance a
comprehensive listing of hundreds of events, their
sponsors, locations, times, cost, audience
size, contact phone numbers and a direct link to member's webpages.
Numerous businesses and non-profit
organizations in the Metrolina

It is updated almost daily. In fact, 400-600 new events
are added each month.
Each issue is a full 12 months of the Calendar (ex. March
2008 through February 2009 - rolling). All business members receive
the calendar every 4-5 weeks; non-profit members receive it every other month. Updates about specific dates
or events can be received by phone or e-mail.

In 1992 the Charlotte Chamber, the Arts & Science Council, the United Way
of the Central Carolinas, the Foundation for the
Carolinas, the National Society of Fundraising
Executives, WTVI-42 and the Charlotte Convention
and Visitors Bureau (Visit Charlotte) started this comprehensive
long-range community calendar. As Charlotte was
growing, it was impossible for organizations and
businesses to keep up with all the varied, and
increasingly numerous, events. Too many events
were scheduled on the same date with one or more
groups not making the needed/expected revenue.
Often there was a poor audience showing.
These organizations combined their efforts and
developed the Master Community Calendar. To our
knowledge there is no other calendar in the
country, developed by non-profit organizations
and businesses, working together to merge all
the community wide events with all the various
business' and organizations' activities.
The Master Community Calendar is located at the
WTVI-42 studios and can be reached by phone, fax,
and e-mail.
Two levels of membership are available:
- Business subscribers receive a full "rolling" year
(12 months) every 4 to 5 weeks.
- Non-profit organizations (tax-exempt 501c3) receive a
full "rolling" year (12 months) calendar every two months.

The scope of the Master Calendar is most unusual.
Organizations and businesses use this resource to plan events
ensuring there are no conflicts for revenue and
audience. By seeing all of the various activities
occurring, the optimum date selection can be made.
Also, the Calendar promotes increased awareness of
fundraising events and other regional activities.
More and more businesses are subscribing to the
Calendar for vending, scheduling, entertainment,
client planning, promotion, networking and
contribution purposes.
The Master Community Calendar covers the entire
spectrum of local events, fundraising,
performances, seminars, etc. Think of the
Calendar as a long-range planning and resource
tool and a time saver. Also important, event planners
(both business and non-profit) do not have to call
"the world" to find out what is going on and when.
The Master Community Calendar is the only source for
receiving comprehensive event information beyond a
short period of time. The Calendar goes into 2010.
